Frank Dobson's campaign for mayor of London has largely concentrated on criticising the leader of the pack, Ken Livingstone. Viewed by the majority of voters as the candidate imposed on the Labour Party by the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Dobson's election promises have almost been swamped by Labour's anti-Ken campaign.

Since winning the Labour candidacy in the electoral college vote, Dobson's attacks on Livingstone's record on business, his support for direct action and the controversy over undeclared earnings have largely fallen on deaf ears. In the final days of the mayoral race, the pundits have claimed that Dobson is in danger of falling into third place behind the Conservative, Steven Norris, and possibly even fourth place behind the Liberal Democrat, Susan Kramer.

As mayor, Dobson would introduce free bus passes for the under-18s and a London lottery whereby the proceeds would be handed out to fund mainly health and education projects.
