Four men died and several people were seriously injured in car accidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Mr James Pedden (21), of Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, was killed and six other people were injured when a Volkswagen vanette and a Ford Sierra collided on the main Belfast Newry road near Banbridge, Co Down, at 3.30 a.m. yesterday.A 19-year-old east Belfast man was killed when the stolen car he was travelling in crashed at Island Road, off the Newtownards Road, at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The RUC is withholding his name until family members are contacted.Two pedestrians also died in the North. Mr Patrick Woods (56), from west Belfast, was knocked down and killed by a Renault car on the West Link in Belfast at 6 a.m. on Saturday. The car was found later in the day near Hillsborough, Co Down, and a man was arrested. Mr Emmanuel McManus (47) was knocked down and killed near his home at Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, at 11.40 p.m. on Saturday.
