Four people have been killed in separate road traffic collisions.
Gardai in Cavan are investigating the circumstances of a single vehicle crash which happened on the N55, Kilcogy, Co. Cavan shortly after midnight.
An 18 year-old man was fatally injured in the crash, and a second male, aged 16, was injured after their car left the carriageway at Dundevan.
The 16 year-old boy was critically injured in the crash.
In Co Dublin, a collision on the southbound carriageway of the N7 Naas Road at Rathcoole resulted in the death of a 22 year-old motorist.
The driver and his passenger, a 25 year-old woman, were injured when their vehicle was involved in a collision with a second car at around 1.15am.
They were taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital where the driver was later pronounced dead. The driver the second car, a 28 year-old man, was also injured.
A pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was fatally injured when he was stuck by a motor car on the Waterford Road, Kilkenny, shortly before 6am this morning. He was taken by ambulance to St Lukes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The road is currently closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
A woman died after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash on the Birr to Tullamore road in Co Offaly yesterday evening.
The crash happened at around 10.30pm at Kennedy's Cross.
