Four people were being questioned by police following the seizure of drugs with a street value of around €1 million and a stash of guns and ammunition.

The seizure was made during a planned operation and search of a flat in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, Ireland yesterday morning.

A large quantity of cocaine and cannabis and three firearms were discovered at the property in the town’s Mary Street.

Gardaí said a 41-year-old man and two women aged 31 and 37 were arrested at the scene and were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at police stations in Clonmel and Cahir.

As part of the investigation a second man was arrested under the same act and was being questioned at Cahir.

In a follow-up operation this evening further searches were carried out in Clonmel. A quantity of cocaine was seized.

The total value of drugs seized in the operation was approximately €1 million, said a spokesman.
