Former editor of 'Kerryman' dies

The death has taken place in Tralee of Séamus McConville (79), a former editor of the Kerryman.

The death has taken place in Tralee of Séamus McConville (79), a former editor of the Kerryman.

Until recently a columnist for the newspaper he once edited, he died at the Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee after a long illness.

He had covered some of the major stories in the southwest, including the murder case which inspired John B Keane's The Field.

He is survived by his wife Dolores and children Denise, Seán, Fiona and Marissa.

Removal takes place today from the Gleasure funeral home at 6.15pm to St John’s Church, with interment in New Rath Cemetery after 10am Mass tomorrow.
