Reaction: Newpark Comprehensive: The exams have helped the students at Newpark Comprehensive School discover the benefits of eating a good breakfast, writes Catherine Foley.

One Leaving Cert student, Lynn Hegarty (18), is, for the first time, now eating her wheetabix each morning before she leaves for school.

Her classmate, Toby Breaden (17), is also changing his old habit of going to school on an empty stomach. "I now have my bowl of cornflakes," he says happily. "And I'm eating plenty of carbohydrates and drinking lots of water," he added wisely.

As the students approach mid-way in their exams, they say it's steady as she goes. Yesterday Danielle Cramp (18) was getting ready to study during the weekend but, she added: "I'm getting reflexology on my feet on Sunday".
