The co-ordinating body for republican ex-prisoners, Coiste na nIarchimi, has made a submission to the Review of Criminal Injuries Compensation, raising the issue of ex-prisoners convicted in Diplock courts being unable to claim criminal injuries compensation.

Coiste's project manager, Mr Mike Ritchie, described the current legislation as "unjust and politically discriminatory". He added: "It is unjust that the dependants of ex-prisoners - including children - should suffer from this politically-motivated bar."
