The European Commission announced today it is to take a fresh case against the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The Commission said in a statement it had asked forconsultations with Washington, the first stage of possible legal action at the WTO, over the way the United States calculates anti-dumping duties.
The EU executive said the US practice, called zeroing,resulted in higher anti-dumping penalties for EU exporters.
The EU is already in dispute with the United States over GM foods, steel and export credits for US exporters.
