Two people arrested on suspicion of murder of Limerick boy released

Two people arrested on suspicion of the murder of a four-year-old boy in Limerick in March have been released from custody. A file is being prepared for the Director of Pubic Prosecutions (DPP).

Mason TJ O'Connell-Conway died after sustaining serious head injuries at his home in Rathbane, Co Limerick, on March 13th, 2021.

On Thursday gardaí in Limerick arrested a man, aged in his 30s, and a woman, aged in her 20s, on suspicion of murder.

Both suspects were being held at separate Garda stations in Limerick City under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 where they could be questioned for up to 24 hours.

The child was treated at University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital before being transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin. He died there three days after the incident.
