One arrest as man dies following serious assault in Dublin

57-year-old hospitalised after incident at Harold’s Cross in early hours of Saturday

A man who was injured in a serious assault at Harold’s Cross in Dublin in the early hours of Saturday has died, according to gardaí.

Emergency services were called to Park View Apartments at Harold’s Cross at about 4am on Saturday morning where the injured 57-year-old was discovered.

He was taken to St James’s Hospital in Dublin where his condition was initially described as serious. Gardaí confirmed he died on Sunday morning.

A man in his early 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at Terenure Garda Station.

Gardaí have reissued an appeal for witnesses who were in the area between Harold’s Cross Bridge and Terenure between 3.30am and 4 am to contact Terenure Garda Station on 01 6666473/74, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
