Single driver in car killed after crashing into a wall in Castlefergus

A male motorist in his 50s was killed in a single vehicle collision in Castlefergus, Co Clare on Sunday night.

The driver was the only occupant in the car at the time, and died after the car collided with a wall.

The crash occurred at 9:15pm on Sunday, at Castlefergus, outside Quin, and gardaí stationed in Ennis are investigating the death.

The body of the man was taken to University Hospital Limerick, and a postmortem examination is to be carried out.

The stretch of road has been closed, and is due to be examined by Garda forensic collision investigators, who will attempt to identify potential causes for the crash.
