An inmate has died at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.

The man, who was 40, was found dead in his cell by prison staff at about 6.40am on Friday, an Irish Prison Service spokesman confirmed.

His death is not being treated as suspicious but the

The governor of Mountjoy Prison and the Inspector of Prisons are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
