Irish-speaking summer colleges are to be issued with guidelines relating to child abuse, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera, revealed in a written reply.

She told Ms Frances Fitzgerald (FG, Dublin South East) the guidelines would seek to ensure that all colleges had proper procedures in place before next year's courses. The Minister said that recent allegations of abuse in Irish-speaking colleges were now the subject of a Garda investigation, and she could not, therefore, comment further.
