Jasper - Three white men accused of dragging a black men to his death on a remote Texas road have been indicted on capital murder charges, allowing prosecutors to seek the death penalty.
A grand jury handed down the indictments in the Texas town of Jasper, where James Byrd jnr was brutally murdered in the early hours of June 7th. Byrd (49) was chained to the back of a pickup truck and dragged until his head and an arm were ripped from his body. The men had previously been charged with murder but prosecutors were under intense pressure to seek the death penalty.
