Aden - A British Muslim on trial for a bomb plot in south Yemen said in court yesterday he was forced at gunpoint to sign a false confession.

Mr Mohsen Ghailan (18) said during a hearing in the port city of Aden he was tortured and made to sign the confession that was dictated to him while he was in custody.

He also denied any link with Mr Abu Hamza al-Masri, a London-based Islamic militant whom Yemeni authorities accuse of sending Mr Ghailan and nine co-defendants on a mission to bomb British and US interests in Aden.

Mr Ghailan insisted he was in Yemen on holiday at the time of their arrest in December.
