Gardaí are hoping that dental records will help them formally identify the body of a woman recovered from the harbour in Kinsale in Co Cork yesterday afternoon.

The body of the woman was spotted by a fisherman near the lifeboat station at about 4pm and Kinsale RNLI launched their boat and recovered the body.

The body was brought to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem will be carried out today when it is also hoped that the deceased will be formally identified.

Gardaí believe the body is that of a 25-year-old Polish woman, Elzbieta Ewa Konik who was last seen alive in Kinsale at about 6pm on March 10th last.

Foul play is not suspected.
