London - The body of a man has been found washed up on rocks near the spot where a Catholic priest under police investigation disappeared, police said yesterday. The Rev William Welsford (69), disappeared more than three weeks ago amid a probe into allegations of child abuse in homes in the Manchester area. His caravanette was found dumped near the River Severn at Over near Gloucester and he failed to turn up for a holiday on December 14th.
Police have refused to say whether the man found yesterday by the Severn in nearby Berkeley, Gloucestershire, was Mr Welsford from Milford Haven.
