The Barr tribunal investigating the fatal shooting of John Carthy at Abbeylara in 2000 is to hold what is expected to be the final day of public hearings in Dublin today.

Closing submissions from the Carthy family and members of the Garda Emergency Response Unit (ERU) will be heard by retired High Court Judge Mr Robert Barr.

A final report is expected before July next year.

John Carthy was shot dead at his house by members of the ERU after opening fire on gardaí.
