The Asthma Society of Ireland has relaunched its website to provide information on asthma triggers, medicines, treatment, and best management of attacks.

New features include a section for parents with children suffering from asthma and for teachers who may have students with asthma in their class.

The website - www.asthmasociety.ie - also boasts a section, entitled Airplay, dedicated to educating children with asthma in a fun, child friendly way.

Others new additions include a latest news section and a library of material available to read online, download or order.

"We are delighted to unveil our new, redesigned website to Ireland's 470,000 asthma sufferers as well as for parents of children with asthma and teachers," said Dr Jean Holohan, chief executive of the Asthma Society of Ireland.

Asthma is a condition that affects the airways with common triggers including cold and flu, cigarette smoke, exercise and allergic responses to pollen, furry or feathery animals or house-dust mites.
