The Minister for the Marine, Mr Fahey, has closed all State inland fisheries and has appealed to anglers to refrain from the activity to prevent the disease spreading.
No permits will be issued for State fisheries until further notice, and the Minister has appealed to private fisheries owners to close off their waterways "for the moment".
