British-based IPC is to axe three of its websites with the loss of 90 jobs.
The company, which publishes titles ranging from music paper NME to the country sports periodical Horse and Hound, said the decision to close the websites had come after a review of its online businesses.
The online version of Loaded magazine has been earmarked for closure, along with BEME.com and unmissabletv.com.
A spokesman for IPC said the closures would allow the organisation to concentrate on its other online businesses.
The company will try to relocate the 90 staff within their existing businesses.
Chief executive of IPC Mr Sly Bailey said: "The media landscape has changed considerably. Two years ago, investment and confidence levels were over-inflated.
"Now the reality is very different and media organisations are adopting greater commercial realism in their forward plans."
Last month Time Warner said it reached a definitive agreement to buy IPC Media from private equity firm Cinven for £1.15 billion sterling.
Cinven led the £860 million buyout of IPC, Britain’s leading consumer magazine publisher, from Reed Elsevier in 1998.
