ARDABIL - Rescuers battled yesterday to help victims of an earthquake in north west Iran. Friday's quake, which registered 5.5 degrees on the Richter scale, killed 554 people, left more than 2,400 injured and 35,000 homeless. Heavy snowfall and strong winds complicated relief operations in one of the coldest areas of Iran.
