Kinshasa - Rwandan soldiers fighting Congolese rebels burned 40 men, women and children alive in the Shaba region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country's official radio reported yesterday. Voice of the People radio said people were locked in their houses when they were burned in Kasala, in the Malemba-Nkulu territory, north of Katanga, on the night of July 28th. One person escaped the massacre, the radio said.
