KHARTOUM – Some 197 people are feared dead after a boat sank off the cost of Sudan yesterday. The boat, which was said to be packed with refugees, was bound for Saudi Arabia when it caught fire and sank within Sudanese waters. Three people were saved.
The boats passengers were believed to be from Sudans neighbouring countries. It is not known where the boat started its journey.
Somali refugees, fleeing their war-torn country are often known to flee Saudi Arabia by sea. – (Reuters)
