THE Gresham Hotel in Dublin's O'Connell Street has been refused planning permission by Dublin Corporation to provide an extension to include 120 bedrooms and a multi-storey car-park at Thomas's Lane.

Meanwhile the planners have cleared the way for yet another hotel in the Temple Bar area. Amberway has been given permission to convert commercial buildings Into hotel use at 27/30 Parliament Street, 1/2 Essex Gate and 10 Upper Exchange Street, Dublin 2.

Elsewhere in the city, Austin Kelly has got planning approval to convert 5 and 6 Parnell Square for hostel use and also to provide a three-storey extension at the rear.

The corporation has refused planning permission for a Hot Press music interpretative centre in a retail premises at the Junction of Trinity Street and St Andrews Lane.
