Pop Corner: Run away with Carly on a flirty sax line

Jessie J, Calvin Harris and pyrotechnics

Track of the week:

Run Away With Me Carly Rae Jepsen First the kiss-off album track Emotion (with the killer line “be tormented by me boy”), now this? CRJ mark two is right up our street.

Opening with a flirty mellow sax line, CRJ laments that she’s “sick of the party” and entices her love interest to slip outside with her.

It's more summery than a melting Solero and when the chorus drops in, you too will wanna run away with Carly.

Hero of the week is Jessie J, who told an Australian TV show that being unwell as a teenager drove her to write music. "I had a minor stroke when I was 17. The weirdest thing is that being that sick made me Jessie J," she said. "I started writing the songs because I was sick. There are things that make you become you and make you feel confident enough to do it and that was my thing.I started writing songs because that was my get-out of feeling unwell and down, and I'm still the same person."

Calvin Harris is delighted with his relationship with Taylor Swift. "It's going absolutely fantastic," he told Kiss FM. He went on to tell the Hits Radio, "We absolutely do [get to chill out and watch Netflix]. She's on a world tour and I'm based here. I guess the luxury is we can both travel very easily. I think that's a reason that it works so, so well."

Zero of the week is pyrotechnics, according to Michael 5SOS. He told the Sun about an incident this summer. "It was so scary, I walked into an open flame. At first, I couldn't open my eye. I thought I'd lost my sight. Getting back on the stage the next day was weird. I had this big ugly bandage on my face. I didn't like that. It wasn't the best show I played." He went on, "I went to an eye doctor and luckily it was treatable. There will be no more pyro. I'm done."
