Nine entrepreneurs shortlisted for Manley awards

Nine entrepreneurs are in the running for a prize package worth over €100,000 at today's David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur awards.

Those shortlisted include the founder of the popular Temptster App, two entrepreneurs behind R-Nua Tec, a start-up helping households generate their own electricity using micro hydro-turbines, and a group of six textile designers who have created the textile print facility, Print Block.

Alongside the entrepreneur awards, the David Manley Media award will be presented today to Tom Lyons, senior business correspondent at The Irish Times. It is awarded by the judging panel to a journalist they believe has best and most regularly covered entrepreneurial issues.

Established in 2002, the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards were established to nurture Ireland's entrepreneurial spirit in business, arts and social spheres. Since then, the awards have provided almost €1 million in support to high-potential emerging entrepreneurs. This year's panel of judges was chaired by entrepreneur and investor Chris Horn. The guest speaker at the awards ceremony is 13-year-old Jordan Casey, founder and chief executive of Casey Games.
