The IRFU is to take 10 of Ireland's top referees and their partners out for a meal next weekend in recognition of their excellent performances in the Heineken European Cup and other international fixtures. The Irish referees have scored very highly in their individual assessments and this is being recognised by the union next weekend.
Planet Rugby would, of course, like to point out that Fr David Tyndall, one of the referees in question, does not have a partner. He will, though, be partnered on this occasion by the lovely referees' secretary, Carol.
PS. This column has learnt that another of Ireland's top referees Murray Whyte is injured at present and we wish him a speedy recovery. Foul play is not suspected.
