Colours match: Former Newpark player Philip Bredin was presented with the Colours trophy after Ross McCarron's late try enabling UCD to retain their trophy following this well contested draw at Donnybrook last night.
UCD then had the chance to secure a late victory, but outhalf Eoghan Hickey miscued a penalty from a fairly kickable position with a minute to go.
UCD were aiming to return to the top of the AIL League, but were up against a formidable pack which included Canadian front row Forrest Gainer and world under-21 player-of-the-year nominee Jamie Heaslip.
The latter had put in some good tackles throughout as newly promoted Dublin University acquitted themselves well.
