Manchester United 2 Aston Villa 1: On-loan striker Henrik Larsson started to repay Sir Alex Ferguson's faith with a debut goal as Manchester United sent Aston Villa tumbling out of the FA Cup thanks to an injury-time mistake from Gabor Kiraly.

The on-loan Aston Villa goalkeeper let a regulation shot from substitute Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slide under his body in the 91st minute to give the Red Devils a 2-1 win after Larsson and Milan Baros had cancelled each other out.

Larsson had shown a handful of nice touches without causing too much trouble in the Villa defence before he scored in the 55th minute.

The former Celtic and Barcelona forward took control of Wayne Rooney's centre, flicking the ball up before firing right-footed past Kiraly.

Ryan Giggs then struck the crossbar with a free-kick but Villa rallied, going close on a number of occasions before substitute Baros received the ball before rifling his shot low past deputy United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

But Kiraly ensured that it would be Ferguson's men who progressed to the fourth round, when he made a mess of Solskjaer's late strike.
