SHELBOURNE got their title challenge back on the right track after their deserved win over Galway United at Terryland Park on Saturday night.

The opening goal on 33 minutes came after a good interchange between Gary Howlett and Tony Sheridan, which ended with Sheridan slotting the ball to the net from the edge of the Galway United area.

Goal number two arrived in the 69th minute when Stephen Geoghegan was fouled inside the Galway United area by Donal Flynn and from the resulting penalty, Greg Costello gave Galway goalkeeper, Robert Ford, no chance. Then, in the 73rd minute, Stephen Geoghegan scored Shelbourne's third and his 16th of the season, after a pass from Gary Howlett.

Galway's consolation goal came in the 83rd minute, when Ollie Neary availed of a defensive mix up before he scored from the edge of the Shelbourne area.
