ALEX FERGUSON has dismissed the notion of Paul Scholes coming out of international retirement but hinted the midfielder may play next season for his club.
Harry Redknapp, the favourite to succeed Fabio Capello as England manager, has suggested the 37-year-old Scholes could play for his national team, despite only ending his self-imposed retirement from club football in January and not appearing for England since 2004.
But Manchester United’s manager is sure there will be no England return.
Ferguson said: “I don’t think there’s any chance of that. I think Paul will be concentrating on United.”
Steve Bruce is waiting to learn whether he will be interviewed for the Wolves job, with the club expected to hold further talks with Alan Curbishley, the favourite, and speak to Neil Warnock about the vacancy over the next 24 hours.
It is understood Wolves have contacted Bruce to sound him out about the position ahead of a potential meeting. Warnock has now agreed his settlement with Queens Park Rangers, paving the way for an interview to take place.
Dunfermline Athletic have highlighted their concern about the likelihood of not receiving £80,000 (€96,000) due from Rangers, who entered administration on Tuesday. Rangers had sold tickets to their own supporters for the fixture at East End Park, on the basis they would forward the money to the hosts.
