Schools Rugby/Cistercian Roscrea 16, Castleknock College 8: All the excitement in this game was packed into the closing quarter when Roscrea came from behind to repeat last year's victory over the same opposition.
The opening half saw a penalty converted by both sides, Roscrea taking the lead through Myles O'Riordan after 25 minutes. Brian Collins replied five minutes before half-time for the Dublin school to leave the half-time score at three points each.
Aided by a strong breeze in the second half Castleknock took the lead with a well taken try from Dan O'Connor. Then after some hard work Roscrea won a penalty which was converted by O'Riordan. The same player converted his third penalty to see the North Tipperary school take the lead by a single point.
Castleknock failed to penetrate a solid Roscrea defence and three minutes from time in a great breakaway Peter Durkan ran 60 metres for a great Roscrea try, which O'Riordan converted.
