DOWNPATRICK’S AUTHORITIES are optimistic the track will be able to pass a 7am inspection today and that could be good news for trainer Edward O’Grady who has prospects of a double.
An inspection has been called due to the forecast for freezing temperatures overnight but the take off and landing sides of the fences have been covered and if the weather isn’t worse than the forecast temperature of minus two, then hopes are high for racing to proceed .
The O’Grady team are sending a number of horses north from Co Tipperary and Lou’s Coole Girl should be hard to beat in a bumper where her Fairyhouse form from last month looks much the best.
Goban Saor failed by just a short head to peg back Mojito Royale at Clonmel in October and should be capable of winning this time under Andrew McNamara in the maiden hurdle.
Trotsky is at the veteran stage but his hurdles mark is favourable compared to the rating he won over fences at Fairyhouse and he can go close in the opener.
