Both sides struggled to carve out a clear chance but Portmarnock had two shots saved by Brendan Kennedy in the Dublin City goal and then watched as Paul O'Mara's header bounced agonisingly off the top of the crossbar.

O'Connor settled the issue by hammering home from 20 yards.
