Keith Nolan, who shot 69 in his first round on Thursday, could not match the score yesterday at the Greater Milwaukee Open and his level-par 71 left him in some danger of missing the cut as strong under-par scores came in. Nolan's compatriot, Richard Coughlan, was in even more danger. His 73 on Thursday left him struggling, and a 71 yesterday was not going to be enough.

Loren Roberts had set the hot pace on Thursday, scorching around the front nine for a 28 before settling for a course record-tying nine-under-par 62 and a three-shot lead.

Roberts, considered one of the best putters on the PGA Tour, missed a 20-footer on the final hole that would have given him the course record. Instead he had to settle for matching Nolan Henke's 1996 course record.
