Paul Carberry notched up his half century for the season, and is now just one behind championship leader Ruby Walsh, after No Problem took the Merck Sharp & Dohme Handicap Chase at Clonmel yesterday.

Ger Cully's charge was gaining compensation here for his previous outing at Naas when falling two out while holding a clear advantage. Carberry sent the seven-year-old to the front early in the straight and the former point-to-pointer stayed on resolutely to score from Carrigeen Lily. No Problem may bid for a quick follow-up in a three mile handicap at Thurles on Sunday.

David Casey has enjoyed a purple patch recently and he partnered his fifth winner in the last four racing days when Bahao landed the Smirnoff Beginners Chase. The Gerry Stack-trained gelding jumped to the front at the last to beat the staying-on Livin Joy by one and a half lengths. "He is getting his act together over fences and is a possible for the Dennys Chase at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day," said the Kildare trainer. The former Michael Stoute-trained Knife Edge landed some nice wagers on his jumping debut in the Tipperary Three-Year-Old Maiden Hurdle. Tom Rudd's mount cruised to the front approaching the penultimate flight for a cosy four and a half length success over Teknash, who also attracted support in the ring.

Shay Barry is already assured of his best seasonal tally and he moved onto the 17 winner mark when Rossmill Native justified favouritism in the opening Winter EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle. The Be My Native filly, trained locally by Pat Flynn who is currently on holiday in the Canary Islands, was in control from the home turn to beat Tudor Style by an easy five and a half lengths.
