RACING:A MOUTH-WATERING rematch between the top juvenile fillies Maybe and La Collina looks to be on the cards at the Curragh this Sunday in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes.

The unbeaten Maybe is already as low as 7 to 2 favourite for next year’s Newmarket 1,000 Guineas after making it four wins from four starts in the Debutante Stakes earlier this month. Before that she had defeated La Collina when conceding 3lb in the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown in July but on the same day Maybe landed the Debutante, her old rival sprang a 33 to 1 shock in the Phoenix Stakes at Headquarters.

That earned La Collina Guineas quotes of 12 to 1 for next year and both fillies are being targeted at another clash in this weekend’s €225,000 Moyglare.

Classic dreams were also placed on Cocozza’s head at the start of this season so it is something of an anti-climax to see the colt appearing in the mile-and-a-quarter conditions race at Cork this evening. John Oxx’s runner was an impressive maiden winner at the Mallow track last year and appeared in a Guineas Trial at Leopardstown in March with a big reputation.

However, Cocozza didn’t even start after sitting down in the stalls and damaging back muscles which contributed to him being off the track until last month.

A comeback at Naas didn’t cut much ice but he was only beaten just over five lengths by Banimpire in the Group Two Royal Whip Stakes at the Curragh earlier this month and looks to have too much for today’s opposition.

Wrote is the Ballydoyle representative in the mile juvenile maiden after a promising debut at Roscommon but he will face a serious challenge from Leatherwood who looked like he will relish the trip after finishing third to Daddy Long Legs over seven at Gowran. Limetree Lady chased home Among Equals over six furlongs at Cork on her debut and the drop back to five this evening should be little problem to David Wachman’s runner.
