BARRY MURPHY, a teenager from Scariff who is [readily acknowledged as being one of the biggest finds in Clare hurling in decades has been ruled out of the All Ireland champion's plans for next month's Munster championship clash with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

Murphy (19) sustained an ankle injury a month ago and has lost out on competitive practice. His last match for the county at full forward, contributed significantly to Corks relegation. Apart from this set back manager Ger Loughnane, who brings his team to Moycullen on Sunday night for a game with league champions Galway, expects to be able to pick from a full panel for the championship opener.

The Limerick Clare match, to be televised live in June 16th, is all ticket and already there is a very heavy demand for tickets.

The ground holds just under 40,000.

Meanwhile, the Laois hurler, Joe Dollard is adamant that he will not line put for his county in next month's Leinster senior hurling championship semi final against either Offaly or Meath if action is not taken following an incident in which he received a head injury during a club match.

Dollard was apparently knocked unconscious while assisting his club side Camross against his former club Castletown.

The player insists that Laois County Board should ha taken action before now more especially because there video evidence of the available.

The Mayo selectors have deferred naming their team to meet London in the first round of the Connacht Senior football championship in Ruislip on Sunday until after training in Dublin tomorrow.

The Mayo party will travel to Dublin tomorrow morning and train at a venue in the capital before flying to Heathrow. The fixture costs the London Board £6,000 which is expected to be recovered on the gate.

A number of Mayo players are nursing injuries and James Horan is suspended. Fergal Costelloe, John Madden and John Casey are doubtful starters.

. Willie Barrett, of Tipperary, has been appointed to officiate at the Munster Senior Hurling Championship semi final between Clare and Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, June 16. He also had charge of last Sunday's first round meeting between Limerick and Cork at Pairc i Chaoimh.

At a meeting of Munster Council last night, it was decided to make the match an all ticket affair with a ceiling capacity of 40,000. Admission charges to the stand will be £10 and £8, £7 for the sideline and £6 on the terraces.

Council PRO, Seamus Gardner, said the price structure was the same as that which applied last season.
