BASKETBALL: Glanmire Community College's seniors and cadettes teams won their All-Ireland Schools League titles at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght yesterday.
The Corkonians' cadette team beat Loreto Beaufort 45-28 to claim the "B" title, and then the seniors, with cadettes Sarah Coakley and Kathryn Fahy in the side, beat St Paul's Oughterard 47-30 in their "B" final.
In other matches, Colaiste Lorcain, Castledermot, won the senior "C" final, and St Mary's, Charleville, defeated Holy Child Community School, Sallynoggin 35-27 in the senior "D" final.
Colaiste Lorcain saw off Our Lady's Grove 47-34 thanks largely to superb third- quarter. The Kildare school opened a 12-point lead during that period to run out easy winners despite Our Lady's Grove's best efforts in the final minutes.
