Sir, - I welcome the lifting of UN sanctions on Iraq. For many years I have campaigned for the lifting of these sanctions which, according to the UN itself, resulted in the death of 5,000 children a month.
The lifting of sanctions on food and medicines at least begins to address the horror of starvation that has seen so much tragedy in Iraq.
I agree with the continuation of the embargo on military goods and I hope the UN will consider an embargo on the exports of all weapons to all countries in the Middle East. - Yours, etc.,
