Geography’s place in the Junior Cycle

Sir, – The launch of the public consultation on the development of a National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development in Ireland is very welcome and the Minister for Education is to be congratulated for it.

I fully expect that the results of the consultation will show geography should be taught to all second-level students as part of the Junior Cycle core curriculum rather than being removed from it. Geography is, after all, about the sustainable development of people and their habitat. – Yours, etc,
