Sir, – I entirely agree with Sean Smith with regard to roadside litter (March 11th). It’s a problem on every road and at every beauty spot in the country. We’re a nation of litter louts. The major blame is on the louts who sling it out the car window, rather than those responsible for cleaning it up.
One solution would be for councils to impose a €100 litter tax on vehicles, to enable councils to employ enough staff for a regular clean-up. – Yours, etc,
