Fair play to the fuel protesters but what about the rest of us?

I can’t afford a €200,000-plus state-of-the-art tractor

Sir, – I see the haulage and farming sectors have secured a multimillion euro aid package from the Government. Fair play to them. Me and my taxi driver colleagues, along with many thousands of private motorists who were subject to the same levels of fuel price rises, got nothing.

I cannot afford a €200,000-plus state-of-the-art tractor. However, I’m wondering if I abandon my modest five-seater saloon on O’Connell Street, would I get a similar deal? I somehow doubt it. – Yours, etc,

THOMAS NAGHTEN,
