Grow your own vegetables

Nature’s bounty

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott

Sir, – While the agricultural and horticultural sectors struggle to set crops due to climate warming rain excess, most of us are not far removed from the land and can still sow some garden vegetables or potatoes. A small area will yield a surprising harvest and there are innovative grow-box options available also. While we might have lost some planting knowledge, pop seeds or plants into the cultivated ground and the magic of soil will do the rest. Get the children involved too as this is vital knowledge we are in danger of losing. Nothing beats the taste or satisfaction of harvesting your own dinner. – Yours, etc,

TOMÁS FINN,
