Sir, – Many will be familiar with the pleasant sounds of spring which signal the arrival of growth and rebirth. Unfortunately, there is a less pleasant autumnal equivalent.
Now that the trees have shed their ballgowns, the leaf-blowers have emerged in full effect.
The inventor of the leaf-blower accomplished quite a feat: the simultaneous production of noise pollution along with the burning of irretrievable fossil fuels, all in order to relocate leaves which would naturally decay and nourish the soil, or simply disappear.
It seems very much like work for the sake of work, and is not a benign practice. – Yours, etc,
