A wreath will be laid on Thursday afternoon at Mount Jerome cemetery, Dublin, to mark the centenary of the death of George Francis FitzGerald, an Irish scientist whose work played a crucial role in the development of Einstein's theory of relativity.

FitzGerald, a professor in Trinity College Dublin, was involved in major discoveries in the fields of electromagnetism and radio waves. The ceremony takes place at 3.30.
