The Irish lightweight fours will have to wait until tomorrow to compete in their semi-final after thunderstorms over the Shunyi Olympic rowing venue forced the postponement of the day's programme.

The quartet of Paul Griffin, Richard Archibald, Gearóid Towey and Cathal Moynihan were due to take to water at 9.10am (Irish time) after winning their repechage with ease on Tuesday.

The full programme is set to be run tomorrow, which was originally scheduled as a rest day.

The postponement comes after a lack of wind delayed the sailing events featuring Ciara Peelo (Laser Radial) and Tim Goodbody (Finn Class). The Irish pair hope to take to the water later today.
