The Minister of the Environment in the North, Mr Sam Foster, yesterday announced a joint campaign with the RUC against drink-driving. While motorists continued to be the main focus for the "never, ever drink and drive" campaign, pedestrians, too, needed to be warned about the dangers of alcohol, Mr Foster said.

The Minister of Health, Ms Bairbre de Brun, yesterday met representatives of the public sector union Unison and described it as a "valuable start" to her listening process. Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Development, Mr Nigel Dodds, has welcomed the Government's willingness to purchase land at the Boyne battlefield site.

"I hope this signals a change of heart from the Southern Government, which has for too long been content to ignore unionist heritage within its jurisdiction," he said.
