Two men were arrested yesterday after the RUC recovered a submachine gun, magazine and a quantity of bomb making equipment in the course of a search of the Springhill Avenue area of in Belfast.
During the search, paint bombs and stones were thrown at the police. One officer received a head wound and serious damage was caused to a number police cars.
